Rules for the Legal Use of our Copyrighted Patterns

A Message from the President of Wardell Publications Inc.

Dear Glass Artisan:

First let me say a heart felt thank you to all the wonderful glass crafters who have purchased and used Wardell Publications books since 1983. I know it sounds trite, but we truly couldn’t have done it without your support. As you know, we are in the business of publishing and distributing stained glass books of Instruction, books of full-size patterns, and books of designs intended to inspire your own creativity.

It has come to our attention that there is a good deal of confusion on the part of many of our customers pertaining to the correct and legal use of our copyrighted patterns and inspirational designs. After a review of the copyright statements found in the front of all our books as well as that found in other publishers titles, I can understand why this confusion exists. The publishing community has not done a very good job of clearly defining just exactly what we expect you to do with our books and what the copyright limitations are. Hopefully we can now set the record straight and end this confusion once and for all, at least as far as Wardell Publications Inc. books are concerned. I have created a list of Frequently Asked Questions on copyright that you may find interesting and enlightening.

I’m sure you can understand that we are particularly sympathetic to the subject of International copyright laws. Without this set of guidelines, and the adherence to them by people like you, we would not be able to carry on our business and most importantly we would not be able to compensate our authors for their artistic efforts. Everyone at Wardell Publications including the authors we represent, want you to know that we appreciate your honesty, decency, and protection of our copyright entitlements.

Below you will find a sample of the statement of Copyright that is printed in the front pages of all our books (or is similar to this statement). You will also find a link to our Commercial Production policy and our Commercial production permission request forms. These stated policies and the request forms apply only to Wardell Publications Inc. products and may not reflect the policy of other publishers. Please be sure to refer to the copyright and production policies of other publishers to ascertain their individual requirements.

Once again we thank you for your honesty, loyalty and support of our products.

Randy Wardell

President Wardell Publications Inc.
